This is a work in progress dump of my investigations into using
the AOpen VX2000 mpeg capture board in windows XP.

This board has had very poor support and has recently plummeted
in price from 175 UKP to 30 UKP.

Pros:
    Cheap.

    15 MB/s real time mpeg2 encoding.

640 kbps real time stereo AC3 encoding (DD 2.0).

Cons:
It's a dev board reference design, support is appalling
as is the software and the DS filters, yet it can be made
to work to an extent which is functional for capturing
    VHS videos.

Another example of good hardware let down by rubbish
software. Where do they find these people?

The encoder gets hot, the fan is very noisy.
